Access Control Built Around Your Business

Lost keys, shared door codes and unrestricted entrances make it harder to manage your building. Electronic access control gives you a practical way to decide who can enter—and which areas they can use.

Argus helps you choose readers, door hardware and management options that fit your premises, staff and working hours.

The Right System for Your Premises

Your doors, users and day-to-day routines determine the best approach. We can advise on standalone and networked options, including Paxton systems.

    Keypads

PIN entry for straightforward access. Change codes when staff leave or a code has been shared.

    Cards & Fobs

Contactless entry using proximity readers and an issued credential. Suitable systems let you cancel lost fobs individually.

    Networked Systems

Manage users, door permissions and access schedules centrally, rather than updating each door separately.

    Biometric Readers

Fingerprint-based identity checks for suitable applications, with privacy and alternative access methods considered.

    Intercom Entry

Speak to a visitor before releasing a compatible entrance—useful at reception and controlled visitor access points.

    Gates & Barriers

Discuss access-control interfaces for compatible automated entrances. Gate safety and automation need separate assessment.

Upgrading an existing system? We will check the condition and compatibility of your equipment before recommending what to keep or replace.

    CCTV & Fire System Integration

Access control can work alongside other building systems. The available functions depend on the equipment, software and configuration.

    • CCTV: review footage alongside access events with compatible integration. Explore our commercial CCTV systems.
    • Fire alarm interfaces: emergency door-release arrangements need to be designed and tested against your building’s fire strategy. Speak to our fire alarm team.
    • Fire roll call: suitable systems can use recorded entry and exit activity to support evacuation checks.

Roll-call accuracy depends on correct setup and people recording their entry and exit. It supports, rather than replaces, your evacuation procedures.

    Designed for Your Working Environment

We consider who uses each entrance, accessibility and the way your building operates – not just how many readers you need.

    • Offices: staff entrances and restricted rooms.
    • Warehouses & industrial sites: stock, plant and operational areas.
    • Schools: staff and controlled visitor entry.
    • Healthcare & care settings: access that considers staff, patients and residents.
    • Retail & managed buildings: back-of-house and shared entrances.

Choosing a system, upgrading your doors or arranging support? Here are some useful starting points.

Can you install access control on our existing doors?

Often, but the door material, frame, locking hardware, power supply and escape arrangements need checking first. A survey establishes which components can be retained and which need replacing.

Should we choose a keypad, card or fob system?

A keypad can suit a straightforward entrance, while individually assigned cards or fobs can make it easier to change one person’s access without sharing a new code. Where several doors or different working hours are involved, centrally managed permissions may be useful.

What happens if a staff member loses a fob or leaves?

On systems that support individual credentials, an authorised administrator can cancel the lost fob or remove the person’s permissions. The exact process depends on your system. We can explain routine user management at handover.

Can you repair an access control system installed by another company?

We can assess existing systems for repair or ongoing maintenance. Please provide the make, model if known, number of affected doors and a description of the fault. Support depends on the equipment, its condition and access to the necessary configuration.

Can access control link to CCTV and fire roll call?

Compatible systems can link access events with CCTV and support fire roll-call reporting. The equipment, software and building arrangements must be checked first. Roll-call reports depend on reliable entry and exit records and should support, not replace, your evacuation procedures.

Can staff have different access times or restricted doors?

Yes, suitable systems can assign permissions by user or group, door and time period. This can help separate staff, cleaners, contractors and visitors. Tell us how the building is used so we can recommend appropriate controls.

How often does access control need maintenance?

The appropriate schedule depends on the equipment, usage, environment and manufacturer’s guidance. Agree a maintenance plan for your premises, report faults promptly and review access permissions whenever staff or working arrangements change.

Do you cover businesses outside Wigan?

Yes. Our Wigan-based team supports businesses across the North West, including Bolton, Chorley, Preston, Warrington and Manchester. Give us your site postcode and requirements so we can confirm the service arrangements.
